Beyond Google - Extreme relevancy in Search Engines

Search engines work based on relevancy concept. When we search anything, search engines rank web pages based on some relevancy concept. Some well-known search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN rank web pages differently based on their algorithm.

Google is on the top due to its outstanding search results. Top ranking of web pages for any search keyword is decided by various factors including back links, Meta tags and content.

Extreme relevancy concept will work on three relationships.

  • Relevancy 1 - Keyword relevancy with web pages
  • Relevancy 2 - User relevancy with keyword
  • Relevancy 3 - Time relevancy with user

Today all existing search engines focus only on one relevancy i.e. keyword relevancy with web pages. Simply saying if hundred people will search same keyword, they all will get the same search results.

Extreme relevancy concept will be able to produce different results for different users even while searching the same keyword. These results will also be time dependent for different users.

Example

When I am searching “IIT” in google, I am getting “ Illinois Institute of Technology” site on rank 1 and “Indian institute of technology” on lower ranks.

This ranking may be suitable for some users but not for others. Extreme relevancy concept will be able to rank web pages differently for the same keywords based on users.

Some work is done in the form of people search engine www.officechums.com as trial of this concept and we hope implementing of this on web search engine will be really a good try.

Lets hope that by 2008 we will be able to conclude something.
